The rebellious Mingo Creek Society farmers were of Scotch Irish descent. The Liberty Pole Spirits’ distillers believe they would be proud that the New Mingo Creek Society is adding a touch of the homeland with peated barley, creating an earthy, smooth bourbon. Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon, their most unique product, combines the world of Peated Scotches with American Bourbons. They mash a heavily peated barley with their Bloody Butcher corn to create a smoky, yet sweet, whiskey. Aged in new American White Oak barrels, this is an incredibly complex and enjoyable whiskey. Their mash bill consists of 59% Bloody Butcher corn and 41% barley malt and peated barley malt. Mashed, distilled, and bottled in Washington, PA, home of the Whiskey Rebellion.

Recipes made with Peated Bourbon

Captain Harter

  • 1 oz. blood orange juice
  • 1 oz. cherry liqueur
  • 1 oz. Liberty Pole Spirits Peated Bourbon
  • 1 oz. vermouth
Smoke a coupe glass. While smoking, combine ingredients and shake on ice. Strain into the smoked coupe. Garnish with a blood orange slice.

Miller's Home Remedy

  • 1 oz. honey ginger simple syrup
  • 2 oz. Liberty Pole Spirits Peated Bourbon
Shake on ice. Strain into cordial glass. Add ice, if preferred. Garnish with candied ginger. See Liberty Pole website for a honey ginger simple syrup recipe.

The Back Porch

  • 0.5 oz. sweet vermouth
  • 1 oz. orange liqueur
  • 2 oz. Liberty Pole Peated Bourbon
  • 5 drops Orange Bitters
Stir all the ingredients over ice. Strain onto 1 large ice cube and garnish with an orange skin.
